10/17/23

This year Pocahontas County High School has switched grading to issuing half credits per semester for a class.

What does this mean?

  • Come January the first half of all classes will be complete.
  • You will receive half credit for all classes passed.
    • To pass a class you must receive an A, B, C or D.
    • If you earned an F in a class, you will not receive the half credit.
      • If you did not receive credit you will be enrolled in credit recovery for the class.
      • Credit recovery will take place during activity period on Monday, Thursday, and Friday.
      • Students needing credit recovery will be assigned a classroom to report to and work on credit recovery material.
      • Credit recovery is a requirement, not an option.
      • Credit recovery for the second semester will take place over the summer. More information about summer credit recovery will be provided in the spring semester.
  • How are grades calculated for the semester?
    • 1st nine weeks will be worth 45% of your grade.
    • 2nd nine weeks will be worth 45% of your grade.
    • Final Exam for the semester will be worth 10% of your grade.
  • If you are not satisfied with your grade at the end of 1st nine weeks the good news is you have another nine weeks to bring it up to your satisfaction.
