Information about half credits

This year Pocahontas County High School has switched grading to issuing half credits per semester for a class.
What does this mean?
- Come January the first half of all classes will be complete.
- You will receive half credit for all classes passed.
- To pass a class you must receive an A, B, C or D.
- If you earned an F in a class, you will not receive the half credit.
- If you did not receive credit you will be enrolled in credit recovery for the class.
- Credit recovery will take place during activity period on Monday, Thursday, and Friday.
- Students needing credit recovery will be assigned a classroom to report to and work on credit recovery material.
- Credit recovery is a requirement, not an option.
- Credit recovery for the second semester will take place over the summer. More information about summer credit recovery will be provided in the spring semester.
- How are grades calculated for the semester?
- 1st nine weeks will be worth 45% of your grade.
- 2nd nine weeks will be worth 45% of your grade.
- Final Exam for the semester will be worth 10% of your grade.
- If you are not satisfied with your grade at the end of 1st nine weeks the good news is you have another nine weeks to bring it up to your satisfaction.
